WEED MANAGEMENT
  • Pre-emergence: Spray Pendimethalin @ 3.3 lit /ha (1.0 kg a.i/ha) at third day after sowing, followed by one hand weeding at 35 - 40 days after sowing
  • Early post emergence: Spray Imazethapyr herbicide @ 0.75 kg a.i/ha at 15 - 20 DAS followed by hand weeding  on  35 - 40 days after sowing
  • If herbicide not applied, two hand weeding at 20 and 40 days after sowing

Note:
At the time of herbicide application, field must have sufficient / optimum soil moisture condition for effective weed control

Harvesting
Maturity symptoms
  • Drying and falling of older leaves and yellowing of the top leaves
  • Inner shell of the matured pod is brownish black

Harvesting

  • Use mould board plough or country plough for uprooting plants if water is not available
  • For pod stripping, use groundnut stripper developed by TNAU
  • Pods should be dried under the sunlight twice for 2 - 3 days at an interval of 2 - 3 days
